Published within Corgan’s Design Informed by the Pandemic: COVID-19 Best Practices in Human-centered Design
After completing my article on Deciphering the Language of Anti for Corgan’s Best Practices Document, a peer and I wanted to take a moment and share some possibilities for the future of design and materiality in a world of microbes (and now a contagious virus).
Follow Corganite, Stacey Brimmer, and I took the time to research some existing and futuristic materials that had a destructive impact on microbes but were safe enough for human interaction. In this article, we reviewed common misconceptions with material like metals and shared our views on more biophilic approaches like the lotus leaf. Although we could not fully support any one item, both of hope these will lead to safer materials in the future.
